While condemning the claims made by Colombo Municipal Councillor Priyanka Jayasekara, Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera today said that he had not requested any money from her to invest in any business.

The prelate told the media that he has clear evidence to prove that the municipal councillor is a cheat.

While describing the incident, Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda told the Municipal Councillor that those who live within glazed houses should not throw stones.

The senior monk showed the media the letters and cheques which were given by the Municipal Councillor. He said that he is not a businessman and he does not want to conduct business. My devotees treat me well.

Therefore, Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda requested the Municipal Councillor to prove whether he was engaged in any business or lending money from her. but I have the letters to prove that she gave them to me. She told me to keep her house, which was already on a bank loan, as she could not pay money.

Meanwhile, Colombo Municipal Councillor Priyanka Jayasekara today said that she hasn’t bought any vehicle qhich was owned by Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda and that she did not steal from anyone.

She said that the incident took place in 2017. "The prelate asked me to invest some money in a particular business. Then I did so, but that business was a flop," she said.

Then I asked Ven. Muruththettuwe to return the money and tyen he asked me to take his luxury vehicle in place of the money he owed me. I also have all the details and documents regarding the conversations I had with Ven. Muruththettuwe.

"The documents for the said vehicle were not with the prelate, they were with some other vehicle importer. "I checked the documents, but could not find any details or an agreement to prove that the vehicle belonged to Ven. Muruththettuwe," she added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

This Buddhist monks are the main culprits to canvasses for MR. They are well looked after This family and made all of us to starve with all sorts of crisis. In their temples they preached the people to vote for MR'sF family members. These priests .must not get involved in this dirty politics. Without brain washing people must be allowed to decide their choice.

Priyanka is a layman and a layman's business involvements, disputes etc is a common issue, but the bunch of commercial papers you keep to safe guard your image and to have business disagreements with a vibrant layman itself is substantial proof qualifying for disrobing.

Some time back, I listened to lecture by an US scholar/ researcher. He said, "The only religion that could have become world religion 2500 years ago, was Buddhism, due to its teaching of 5 noble precepts and stand against caste difference." But that was lost entirely because of Hindu Priests and Rulers who thrived in a Caste based society in India. Have we as Buddhists taken one step to correct? Instead, every step is taken towards more corruption and worldly pleasure by corrupt Buddhist clergy, taking shelter under the wings of incorrigible politicians. What will satiate the greed of these shameless morons? Every one of these clergy and rulers think that the public is an idiot. When the docile public give back, these leaches will have no place to hide.

If you don't 'dabble in business', why have such large files for your transactions??Why even have such luxury vehicles, if you are a disciple or follower of Buddha Dhamma?? When you are the leader of Nurses trade union and claim you don't do business, you show what a TURNCOAT you are?
