Whether he goes from village to village or house to house, Namal has no chance: Minister Wasantha

Colombo, Sept. 4 (Daily Mirror) - Former MP Namal Rajapaksa has no chance of electoral success, even if he campaigns from village to village or house to house, Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe said.

Addressing the media, Minister Samarasinghe criticised past governments, saying, “They have been ruling from village to village, bankrupting the country, making it so poor that it is impossible to open an LC, and turning it into a nation unable to pay its debts. The people who saw that gave us a two-thirds majority.

"Therefore, even if they go from village to village or house to house, Namal has no chance,” he said.

He also commented on the stability of food prices, noting, “The price of rice has remained the same for the past ten months and the prices of potatoes and onions have also stayed stable. This morning we inaugurated the Vavuniya Economic Center.

"Even today, onions in Vavuniya are being sold at Rs. 110, while potatoes and onions are available at Rs. 90 and Rs. 105 per kilo. Some have claimed that taxes would drive up prices, but that is not the case,” the Minister added.
