Colombo, June 15 (Daily Mirror) - The West Indies secured a 2-1 series victory over Sri Lanka after registering a five-wicket win in the third and final T20 International at Sabina Park.
After winning the toss and opting to field, the hosts restricted Sri Lanka to 169 all out in 20 overs. Fast bowler Shamar Joseph starred with the ball, claiming an impressive five-wicket haul to dismantle the visitors' batting lineup.
Sri Lanka's innings was anchored by Dunith Wellalage, who scored 43 off 28 deliveries, while opener Kamil Mishara contributed 28 runs. However, regular wickets prevented the tourists from building substantial partnerships as they were bowled out on the final ball of the innings.
Chasing 170 for victory, the West Indies faced early resistance from Sri Lanka's bowlers, with Wanindu Hasaranga returning figures of 2 for 17. Despite the setbacks, Sherfane Rutherford produced a match-winning knock of 54 off 40 balls to keep the chase on track.
Captain Rovman Powell added 33 runs, while Shimron Hetmyer chipped in with 32, helping the hosts maintain momentum in the run chase.
The match went down to the closing stages before the West Indies reached 170 for 5 with two balls remaining, sealing a five-wicket victory and the series triumph.
