Colombo, Feb 18 (Daily Mirror) - The government will definitely take steps to reduce taxes on fuel in the future, Chief Government Whip, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said today.

He told Parliament that the government has provided the maximum relief possible to the people through the budget, adding that no taxes have been imposed in the budget.

The Minister said this while responding to a question raised by MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, whether the taxes on fuel will be reduced, as claimed by the National People's Power (NPP) during election time.

MP Jayasekara said the NPP claimed that unreasonable taxes (Rs.50) has been imposed on fuel and that the former Minister was getting commissions.

The MP asked when the said taxes will be reduced on fuel.

Minister Jayatissa said a detailed report will be presented to Parliament on how the CPC was made a loss-making entity and how the former Minister was involved.
