Water Board debt rises to Rs. 16 billion due to unpaid bills

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced today that its debt has risen to Rs. 16 billion due to the non-payment of outstanding water bills.

A spokesperson for the Water Board said that in recent years, the Board has had to pay significant interest on loans obtained both locally and internationally to implement water projects across the country.

To manage this debt, the water supply of consumers who fail to settle their bills has been disconnected.

Meanwhile, the Water Board is preparing to revise water tariffs in line with adjustments to the electricity tariffs. The decision of the Board’s special committee regarding the percentage of the revision is expected to be announced soon.

REALLY!!! THE WHOLE WATER BOARD MUST BE SACKED/INTERDICTED FOR THEIR INEFFICIENCY IN CUTTING THE SUPPLIES TO THESE WHO HAVE NOT PAID THEIR BILLS, HAD THEY DONE THIS EARLIER THE DEBT WOULD HAVE BEEN FAR LESS. SHAME ON YOU LOT, RESIGN AND LET EFFICIENT REPLACEMENTS COME IN AND GET THE JOB DONE.

All these years this what the water board was doing. When you can't recover your water bill increase the price. This very unfair. Cut the water supply of those who have not paid. No matter if it's the presidents house just do it.

Cut water supply to all customers having over a reasonable limit of arrears. Give them one week to make full payment. That should immediately bring money to the Government fast. Most of the high non paying customers will surely be politicians from all previous regimes !! Then the water board can reduce water supply prices fast !!
