Walk with an Elephant’ launched at Pinnawala

Colombo, July 15 (Daily Mirror) - Visitors to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage can now take part in a unique "Walk with an Elephant" experience, offering an opportunity to observe the animals up close while learning about elephant conservation.

The Department of National Zoological Gardens said the activity allows visitors to walk alongside one of the orphanage's elephants in a safe environment and create lasting memories while gaining a deeper appreciation of Sri Lanka's iconic wildlife.

The department said the experience is designed to promote awareness of elephant conservation by giving visitors a chance to observe the animals' behaviour and understand the importance of protecting wildlife.

Special tickets for the activity are available at the entrance ticket counter.

The "Walk with an Elephant" experience is offered daily from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

The department encouraged both local and foreign visitors to take part in the programme, saying it supports conservation efforts while providing an educational and memorable wildlife experience.
