Vijitha Herath extends condolences on passing of Qatar’s Father Amir

Colombo, July 12 (Daily Mirror) - Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath has expressed condolences on the passing of Qatar's Father Amir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

In a message, Minister Herath said he was deeply saddened to learn of the Father Amir's passing, describing him as a leader who was dearly loved by the people of Qatar, including the many Sri Lankans living and working in the country.

He said Sheikh Hamad's transformative stewardship of Qatar and his contribution to strengthening relations between Sri Lanka and Qatar would always be remembered.

The Foreign Minister also extended his heartfelt condolences to Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, as well as to the Government and people of Qatar, wishing the late Father Amir eternal peace.
