Using unverified home dengue remedies leave patients critically ill

Colombo, July 25 (Daily Mirror) - Some dengue patients have become critically ill after using unverified home remedies, including papaya leaf juice, and have suffered various complications, the Borella National Ayurveda Hospital physician Dr. Saminda Ariyaratne said

He said dengue patients should not use any home remedies other than those prescribed by qualified Western or Ayurvedic doctors.

He also urged the public not to prepare or use medicines based on claims circulating on social media, stressing that only treatments recommended by qualified medical professionals should be followed.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hemachandra said that a special dengue clinic will be opened at the hospital from Friday, July 31, in response to the current dengue outbreak.

He invited patients seeking treatment under the Ayurvedic medical tradition to visit the hospital and receive care from qualified practitioners.
