Colombo, July 07 (Daily Mirror)- Former Minister S.B. Dissanayake said underwold activities in the country vanished soon after Acting IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon assumed duities.

He told reporters that a massive operation against the underworld was launched by Deshabandu, adding that the government must increase investigations, arrests and operations against the underworld to curtail it.

He said the development activities in the country will be hindered if the underworld is not controlled and added that foreign investors will be reluctant to invest in Sri Lanka.

If it was under control then, how come it s rampant now. It was under pseudo "control" because it was a cameo with Deshabandu's connections with the underworld. Now due to the pressure of detecting vast quantities of drugs by the forces, the rival gangs are trying to get market share by attacking each other.

This man was known as Gemba , the way he was changing parties some time back as he was changing his shirts . If my memory is correct this man was accused of taking very valuable old furniture belonged to a house in Colombo ,which was gifted to the university by a philanthropist. This man was the higher education minister at that time.This government could initiate an inquiry about it .
