Underworld murder suspect arrested in Agarapathana

Colombo, Sept. 3 (Daily Mirror) - A suspect linked to multiple underworld-related murders was arrested last night in Agarapathana, Talawakele, police said.

According to the Police Special Task Force (STF), the individual is wanted in connection with several murders in the Meetiyagoda area. Investigations have also revealed that the suspect had played a key role in facilitating communication for underworld leaders who were recently arrested in Indonesia and extradited to Sri Lanka.

The suspect had allegedly provided the necessary WhatsApp technology to enable these underworld figures to maintain contact with individuals in Sri Lanka while operating from overseas.

Based on phone data analysis of the arrested underworld suspects, STF personnel arrested the suspect at his wife’s residence in the Agarapathana area.

The suspect is to be produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court.

The Meetiyagoda Police are conducting further investigations.
