Ukrainian woman arrested over assault on Sri Lankan in Mount Lavinia

Colombo, April 13 (Daily Mirror) - A Ukrainian national was arrested late last night for allegedly behaving in a disorderly manner and assaulting a Sri Lankan woman in Mount Lavinia, Police said.

The incident occurred at around 11.50 p.m. on April 12 in front of the “Little Star” restaurant within the Mount Lavinia Police Division.

According to Police, the suspect, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, had allegedly assaulted a Sri Lankan woman at the location. Officers attached to the Mount Lavinia Police Headquarters, who were on night mobile patrol, promptly intervened and took the woman into custody.

Police further stated that the suspect has been residing in Sri Lanka for approximately 12 years. Her two children, both aged around 14, who were present at the time of the incident, were also taken into police custody to ensure their safety.

The assaulted Sri Lankan woman has been referred for medical treatment, Police added.

Police need to treat foreigners breaking laws same as if a local was, not just stand around and let then do what they want, do we get special treatment in their country? Any one coming for a holiday must respect laws of the land they are in and not act like they are above the law because of skin colour
