USAID has not officially informed of aid cuts to Sri Lanka: Deputy Minister

Colombo, Feb 24 (Daily Mirror) - The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has not officially informed the govenment on any aid cut to date, Deputy Minister of Finance Harshana Sooriyaperuma told Parliament today.

He said the USAID is bound to officially inform the Sri Lankan government of any aid cuts as per the agreements it has reached with Sri Lanka.

No one is "obligated." You could be proactive and reach out to the US consulate to confirm the aid status if you don't want to accept the loud and clear official messages the White House sends through media. Other countries have understood and have a plan but of course Sri Lanka is always complacent and depend on hand outs.

Why should they? You seem to express it as it it is an entitlement lost? Why are you relying on handouts from developed countries and still blame them as if you are the best country on earth? Just try to be a developed country yourself. It is about time those countries stop giving aids to severely corrupt nations and ask them to get their act together. Well done Trump!

Since 1950, we have sought assistance from the International Monetary Fund on seventeen separate occasions, yet not a single leader has stepped forward to reveal the stark reality of our circumstances. They were all out to import luxury vehicles, apples and mandarins and many other commodities to undermine the locally produced items. Our nation is endowed with an abundance of natural resources and possesses the potential to achieve remarkable economic prosperity. Regrettably, our politicians have aligned themselves with adversarial forces, plunging the country into a state of profound despair. Perhaps most disconcerting is the fact that these politicians take immense pride in their negotiations with donor nations, as though such dependence were a badge of honor. To date, no previous government has succeeded in presenting a coherent and viable roadmap for fostering sustainable economic growth.
