US$ 34mn paid for furnace oil cargo: Minister

Planning for 2½ hour power cut until Norochcholai plant back in action



Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera today said that US$ 34 million was paid yesterday for a shipment of furnace fuel.

He said the shipment will be unloaded today and to be used for power generation and industries. 

With the thermal power generation, the Ministry is planning to continue with 2½ hour power cut until the Norochcholai power plant will be back after the routine maintenance and connected to the national grid. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
