UAE’s Meiyappan takes first hat-trick at T20 World Cup

Karthik Meiyappan of the United Arab Emirates took the first hat-trick of the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia on Tuesday, stunning Sri Lanka in their first-round match in Geelong.

Asian champions Sri Lanka were motoring at 117-2 in the 15th over when the leg-break bowler struck, removing Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka and skipper Dasun Shanaka in successive balls.

Rajapaksa was caught in the deep, Asalanka caught behind and Shanaka clean-bowled.

The 22-year-old became just the fifth bowler to snare a hat-trick at a T20 World Cup and the first for his country.
He ended with figures of 3-19 off his four overs.

It was due to out of form Asalanka. If he had not got out. The youngester would not have got three wickets. Danushka and Asalanka are out of form players and they have scored ducks or telephone number scores recently. It was a poor decision to include both of them in the squad. Probably in the next match drop Asalanka and bring another pace bowler like Kumara or Binura. Chamika or Banuka can play at number four and five respectively.

If the team is UAE then players should all be UAE nationals but none of them are. The ICC has become so greedy that anything for money. They have sold the gentlemen s game.

Please check the demographic stats of UAE. Emiratis only account for 11.6% of the population and the game is dominated by the South Asians.
