Two urban council officials caught red-handed while accepting bribe



The Acting Secretary and the Revenue Inspector of the Seethawaka Urban Council have been arrested by the Bribery Commission for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 400,000.

The arrest was made on Friday (June 23) following a complaint lodged by an individual from Avissawella.

The accused parties were apprehended in the act of accepting the bribe in order to expedite the transfer of a shop ownership at the recently established commercial center at the Avissawella bus stand.

Upon the conclusion of initial investigations, the suspects will be produced before the Colombo Magistrate's Court.
