Two police officers interdicted

Colombo, Oct. 9 (Daily Mirror) - A Sub Inspector and a Sergeant attached to the Anuradhapura police were interdicted last morning after a suspect had escaped from the police cell. 

The SI had been in charge of the overall duties of the police station and the sergeant was on reserve duty.

The 22 year old suspect from Samagipura in Matale had been arrested on Tuesday (07) over an alleged assault on an individual and robbery of Rs.30,000 and for also possessing a stock of heroin at the time of arrest.

He was to be produced before court on Wednesday morning (08) when he had fled from custody on Tuesday night.. 

HQI Anuradhapura Police CI Jayaweera Rajapakse is conducting further investigations on the instructions of SSP Thilina Hewapathirana.
