Ambalangoda, March 10 (Daily Mirror)- A two-month-old male infant who had been abandoned by the roadside at Devagoda in Madampe off Ambalangoda was recovered by Ambalangoda Police this morning.
The infant, wrapped in a piece of cloth and left near a garden wall, was crying when the police arrived.
A police team under OIC Women and Children’s Bureau Renuka de Silva that rushed to the scene on information from the public immediately admitted the infant to Balapitiya Base Hospital. A spokesperson for the hospital said the child was out of danger.
Police said the infant would have been left by the roadside in the early hours of last morning.
Ambalangoda Police are conducting further investigations to trace the child’s mother.
