Two-month old infant abandoned on the roadside

Ambalangoda, March 10 (Daily Mirror)- A two-month-old male infant who had been abandoned by the roadside at Devagoda in Madampe off Ambalangoda was recovered by Ambalangoda Police this morning.

The infant, wrapped in a piece of cloth and left near a garden wall, was crying when the police arrived.

A police team under OIC Women and Children’s Bureau Renuka de Silva that rushed to the scene on information from the public immediately admitted the infant to Balapitiya Base Hospital. A spokesperson for the hospital said the child was out of danger.

Police said the infant would have been left by the roadside in the early hours of last morning.

Ambalangoda Police are conducting further investigations to trace the child’s mother.

What does any god have to do with it? Thanks to the people who saved it. By the way, there is a baby hatch in every German city where unfortunate mothers who are unable to care for their baby can hand it in anonymously. But that would probably go against the great culture of Sri Lanka, as can be seen by the commentator's use of the obsolete term ‘illicit affair’.
