Colombo, Sept. 18 (Daily Mirror) - Two people were hospitalized following an acid attack that occurred during a police inquiry at the Kalawana Police Station today (18), police said.
The incident took place when parties connected to a family dispute were summoned to the station over a complaint lodged by a father-in-law, who accused his younger sons’ wives of plucking tea leaves from his garden without permission.
During the inquiry, an argument broke out, leading to one of the wives allegedly throwing acid on another woman — the wife of the eldest son — and another individual present at the station. Both victims were admitted to the Kalawana Base Hospital with burn injuries.
Police confirmed that the woman suspected of carrying out the attack has been arrested, and further investigations are underway.
