Two arrested over Bellanwila shooting

Colombo, July 26 (Daily Mirror) - Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Bellanwila, Boralesgamuwa last night.

The shooting occurred last night when an unidentified gunman opened fire on the victim. He was rushed to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Following the incident, a team of officers from the Navagamuwa Police intercepted two suspects in the Ranala area while they were allegedly attempting to flee on a motorcycle believed to have been used in the escape.

Police said 6 grams and 600 milligrams of heroin were recovered from the suspects during the arrest, and the motorcycle was taken into custody.

The suspects, identified as residents of the Bakamuna area aged 28 and 37. The Navagamuwa Police are conducting further inquiries to identify other individuals connected to the incident.
