Two arrested for running unregistered rehabilitation center in Dehiwala

The Dehiwala Police have arrested two persons for operating an unregistered rehabilitation center at Malwatta in Dehiwala yesterday.

Police said the rehabilitation center was raided based on information received by the Dehiwala police that a center for rehabilitation of drug addicts was being run without being registered with the Dangerous Drugs Control Board.

A man who was operating the center and another who was assisting him were arrested.

Police said 34 persons who were undergoing rehabilitation are detained at the police station for security.

The arrested suspects are 50 and 51 years old from Dehiwala and Borella.

They are to be produced before courts today.(DSB)

How pitty is this. So many crimes and these Idiots dont arrest them but someone who is doing a good thing for the society. See how you could help him to do it better than penalizing people like this.

They did not commit a crime, rehabilitation of drug addicts is a service and a need of the hour. They have not registered, probably they were not aware of the requirements. Help them register and allow them to continue.

Very very smart! By the way, have they charged any money for rehabilitation? Who are the beneficiaries? Did anybody gain any improvement in their health condition? Who is spending money for these rehabilitation? It will be interesting to get more details.

This rehab centre is located in an area riddled with other drug addicts and major drug suppliers. The drug addicts from the rehab centre are a menace to the neighbouring areas as they are big time thieves trying to steal anything to fund their drugs. They are funded by an NGO who has failed to do their due diligence when setting up the drug rehab centre. This centre must shut down asap.

They are trying to get their lives back. They go and arrest them. What a joke! Arrest a single politician if you can, for stealing, which has never happened for the last 75 years. Look at Singapore today, a corrupt minister was arrested.

They are doing a good thing for the entire society. Help them finance them and register them. Rehabilitating 34 persons cannot be a easy thing. Police must assist them.
