Two SLAF helicopters ready to airlift bus crash victims

Colombo, May 11 (Daily Mirror) - The Ministry of Defence said two helicopters have been readied to airlift critically injured individuals from two separate bus accidents - one that occurred this morning (11) in the Garandiella area and another in Welimada yesterday (10) - to Colombo for further treatment.

According to the Ministry, the Sri Lanka Air Force has stationed the helicopters at the Ratmalana Air Force Base, following directives from the Ministry Secretary.

The Ministry further said that two Bell 412 helicopters have been allocated for these emergency medical evacuations.

Sri Lanka's ground situation is terrible because of economic woes. The air situation proved to be no different in several occasions. Hope the use of these choppers won't end up in another tragedy.

At least flying the corrupt up and down would have been better than a Bell helicopter crashing and a bush crashing the next day cause the pilots get on the job training versus keeping them idling
