Two Pakistanis linked to Kehelbaddara Padme’s ICE drug facility in Nuwara Eliya: Minister

Colombo, Sept. 4 (Daily Mirror) - Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said investigations have revealed that organised crime gangs had brought in foreign nationals to run an ICE drug manufacturing facility allegedly funded by underworld figure Kehelbaddara Padme in the Nuwara Eliya area.

Speaking at the opening of the new Cinnamon Garden Police Station building this morning (04), the Minister said information uncovered by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) revealed that two Pakistani nationals were involved in operating the ICE drug manufacturing facility.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched an investigation after police uncovered that underworld figure ‘Kehelbaddara Padme’ had invested in a factory manufacturing  Crystal methamphetamine (ICE) in Nuwara Eliya.

During questioning, Padmasiri reportedly admitted to investing over Rs. 4 million in the illicit operation.

Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said that a house in Nuwara Eliya had been rented to run the drug manufacturing facility and that more than 2,000 kilograms of chemicals had been imported into the country for this purpose.
