Train derails at Colombo Fort Railway Station again

Colombo, July 20 (Daily Mirror) - A train bound for Rambukkana derailed at the Colombo Fort Railway Station this afternoon, marking the second derailment involving the same train this month.

The train (No. 1164), which was scheduled to depart Colombo Fort at 4.45 p.m., derailed at around 4.35 p.m. while approaching the platform.

According to railway sources, two wheels of one carriage came off the tracks, resulting in two platforms at the station being blocked.

Notably, the same train also derailed on July 7, making this the second derailment involving Train No. 1164 within the same month.

Railway officials are working to clear the tracks, while the incident is expected to cause delays to train services operating from Colombo Fort.
