Trade union action brings train services to a standstill

Railway services operating from the Colombo Fort have been hampered due to the ongoing railway trade union action, a senior railway official said.
 
He said discussions between the trade unions and the Railways General Manager (GMR) are currently underway.
 
Further course of action with regard to the strike is to be taken following the discussion, the official said.
 
The train engine drivers and railway guards launched the strike at noon today, citing several demands. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
