Toll collection at the Kerawalapitiya Interchange on the Colombo Outer Expressway will be discontinued from today (22).
This change ends the inconvenience faced by drivers who previously had to obtain and pay for two tickets at separate locations.
The Road Development Authority has taken this step to prevent unnecessary traffic congestion. Vehicles entering the Katunayake Expressway from the Outer Circular Road can now proceed without stopping at the Kerawalapitiya Interchange.
The ticket issuance system, which has been in place for the past ten years, will be abolished at this interchange. Drivers will now obtain tickets only at the Seeduwa and Peliyagoda interchanges when entering the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway. Vehicles coming from the Outer Circular Road can enter the Katunayake Expressway without obtaining tickets.
Vehicles exiting at the Kerawalapitiya Interchange will continue to pay the exit fee.
Authorities have confirmed that this new system will not increase toll charges and will reduce delays and congestion, allowing commuters to reach their destinations more efficiently.
