‘Tinker’ deported from Dubai, arrested at BIA

Colombo, Oct 01 (Daily Mirror) - Sridharan Niranjan, also known as ‘Tinker,’ who was deported from Dubai, was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) this morning.

Police said he was arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake and handed him over to the Peliyagoda Police. Tinker, a resident of Colombo 15, is reportedly linked to notorious organised crime figure Palani Shiran Glorian, also known as “Kochchikade Shiran.”

Police said Tinker allegedly served as the driver in a fatal shooting near Mahawatte Public Cemetery in the Grandpass area on October 16, 2024. He is also accused of transporting firearms used in a separate attack in Peliyagoda on August 19, 2025, which left one person dead and another critically injured.

Police said a foreign travel ban had been imposed on him, but investigations revealed that he had left the country in August.

The suspect will be produced in the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court while the Peliyagoda Police are conducting investigations.
