Thundershowers likely in most parts of the country during next few days

Atmospheric conditions are favorable for development of evening thundershowers in most parts of the island during the next few days, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

Their daily weather forecasting report states thundershowers would occur over most parts of the island after 2.00 pm today.

Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Southern Provinces. Showers or thundershowers may occur in the Eastern Province and in the Mullaitivu and Hambanthota districts during the morning as well.

Therefore, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
