Three suspects remanded over Mihintale elephant death case

Colombo, Dec. 18 (Daily Mirror) - Three suspects connected to the death of an elephant in the Seeppukulam area have been remanded till December 24 by the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court.

A post-mortem examination of the elephant was conducted on 17 December by Pandulagama Wildlife Veterinarian Udeshika Madhuwanthi, and the autopsy report is scheduled to be presented to the court tomorrow.

Following a fact report to the court regarding the incident, the Magistrate ordered statements to be recorded from a person recorded on video in connection with the burning incident and instructed that a detailed report on the suspects be submitted tomorrow.

The Mihintale Police have arrested three individuals so far and are conducting investigations to apprehend another suspect. 

The case was filed jointly by the Wildlife Department and the Mihintale Police.
