Three police officers suspended over misconduct at spa

Colombo, July 17 (Daily Mirror) - Three police officers attached to stations within the Matara Police Division have been suspended following an incident of misconduct at a spa in the Walgama area.

The officers, identified as Sub-Inspectors serving with the Matara Division Intelligence Unit, Thihagoda Police Station, and Mawarala Police Station, allegedly visited the establishment and became involved in a heated altercation with the manager.

It was reported that the officers attempted to obtain the services of the massage parlour without payment.

An investigation was launched into the incident following a complaint in this regard.

Following the investigation, the Acting Superintendent of Police (ASP) for the Matara Division found the officers guilty of several violations, including conduct detrimental to police discipline, misuse of their official positions for personal benefit, discreditable behaviour and corrupt practices.

The ASP subsequently suspended the duties of all three officers.

High time these kind of misfit officers be rounded up and thrown out of the police force! Check their personal assets like bank accounts and properties too. If their salaries or family inheritance plus other incomes can’t justify their personal wealth, forfeiture of these assets will be justified after seeking legal advice. This should be a new avenue the corruption board should start looking into for all current and past officers having unfounded wealth.

Educated Madam PM, You need to look at education in long term foor the benefit of the country. So one of the three essential subject for Sri Lankan students is Civics; not History, to avoid misconduct. Country is already ruined and sensible decisions are required.

Owner of the spa maybe politically connected hence non payment for services expected but payment intended in exchange for police protection. And somewhere down the line things got misfired. Unfortunate circumstances for the cops though.
