Colombo, July 17 (Daily Mirror) - Three police officers attached to stations within the Matara Police Division have been suspended following an incident of misconduct at a spa in the Walgama area.
The officers, identified as Sub-Inspectors serving with the Matara Division Intelligence Unit, Thihagoda Police Station, and Mawarala Police Station, allegedly visited the establishment and became involved in a heated altercation with the manager.
It was reported that the officers attempted to obtain the services of the massage parlour without payment.
An investigation was launched into the incident following a complaint in this regard.
Following the investigation, the Acting Superintendent of Police (ASP) for the Matara Division found the officers guilty of several violations, including conduct detrimental to police discipline, misuse of their official positions for personal benefit, discreditable behaviour and corrupt practices.
The ASP subsequently suspended the duties of all three officers.
