Three killed including two infants in Narammala accident



Three people, including two infant girls, died in a tragic accident on the Narammala-Giriulla road in the Narammala Police Division yesterday afternoon (19).

According to police, the accident occurred when a car veered off the right side of the road and collided head-on with a bus traveling in the opposite direction. 

The victims include the driver of the car, a 38-year-old resident of Divullawa, Mahawa, and two girls aged 9 months and 11 months.

The bus driver, conductor, and a passenger were also injured and are currently receiving treatment at the Dambadeniya Hospital. 

The Narammala Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, another fatal accident was reported from the Kapuhena area on the Wariyapola–Kumbukgete road in the Wellawa Police Division, where a lorry traveling towards Kumbukgete collided with a pedestrian, killing her on the spot. The deceased has been identified as a 48-year-old woman from the Ganewattha area.

In a separate incident, a motorcyclist was killed near the 85th kilometer post on the Colombo–Kandy road within the Kegalle Police Division. The accident occurred when a lorry heading towards Kandy collided with a motorcycle moving in the same direction while attempting to overtake it. The motorcyclist, a 50-year-old woman from Assapitiya, succumbed to her injuries after being admitted to the Kegalle Hospital.
