Three government officers arrested while accepting bribes
Colombo, Sept. 26 (Daily Mirror) - An Agrarian Development Officer, a Management Assistant and a female security officer were arrested by bribery officials in two seperate incidents.
The Agrarian Development Officer was arrested in Deniyaya while accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 from a person to avoid legal action against him for placing a container in a paddy field by the road.
The Management Assistant and female security officer were arrested for a accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a person from Samanturai for facilitating to obtain a driving licence.
The Management Assistant was arrested at the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) in Werahera and the female security officer was arrested at the main entrance of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation, Maharagama.
The arrested suspects are to be produced before the Morawaka and Colombo Chief Magistrate's Courts.
