Three arrested over shooting targeting Thusitha Halloluwa



Colombo, May 28 (Daily Mirror) - Three suspects have been arrested over the assault and shooting targeting the vehicle of former National Lotteries Board Director Thusitha Halloluwa in Narahenpita on 17 May.

Police said that the suspects, aged 31, 32 and 40, are residents of Wattala and Colombo 14. They are scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today.

The incident occurred while Halloluwa was travelling with his lawyer in a car in Narahenpita. Two gunmen on a motorcycle reportedly followed the vehicle, initially firing shots into the air before opening fire at the front windshield when the car stopped.

Halloluwa later revealed that both he and his lawyer were assaulted by the attackers, who then fled the scene with a file containing important documents from inside the vehicle.

Investigations into the incident were handed over to the Colombo Crimes Division.

Earlier, three other suspects-including a woman-were arrested in connection with the incident and were remanded till 29 May by the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court.
