Thread of sackcloth found in sprat curry served in press canteen in Parliament

A fairly long piece of thread used for sackcloth was found in sprat curry served at press canteen in Parliament today.

A journalist found it while having his lunch at press canteen this afternoon.

This journalist told his colleagues that he had handed over the piece of thread to a staff member attached to house keeping department.

Meanwhile, two policemen were reported to have fallen ill with stomatch infection on Thursday after consuming a contaminated fish currey at the staff canteen.

Staff members confirmed that fish currey served at staff canteen were rotten.(Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

The journalist probably got a subsided meal the press canteen. The price of the meal is now of interest to me, because if it just a nominal amount like 50 rupees then the standard will be to that. I hope real intention of the article is more about the two persons made ill than about sack cloth, because there are many in our nation not getting any sprat curry for months, and even sprats with sack cloth may be welcome than having nothing. How much do the meals at the press and staff canteens cost? Obviously the MPs will demand higher standards, claiming they are entitled the greater and better because of the service they do to the public with their over long time in parliament with five year fixed terms.

Bring your own food. Avoid eating from government run or owned places such as this. Suppliers may ot have recieved money amd probably new suppliers are used. These new suppliers may be giving low grade food items.

This is only news cos it was found in the press room. We find it everyday in many places. Our PHI's hardly raid any place. If they visit, they will go with a TV crew only. That's looking for the next promotion. Honestly, this point is not news worthy. Grow up.

There are some poor persons near where I live who would be happy for some sprats, even with some sack cloth. Police getting sick by eating at the staff canteen is bad, but those fellows were just there for MP security, so not much use for the country anyway. Protecting the mostly crooks or fraudster in parliament for printed money wages is doing a disservice for the whole nation!

Head line should be more about the two policeman at parliament fallen ill. Thread of sack cloth at a low price canteen doesn't seem worth a headline. Probably most poorer persons would be happy to get food at the canteen that the journalist ate at any.
