Parliamentarian Dullas Alahapperuma today questioned as to why United National Party (UNP) handed over nominations to the Local Government elections if the election was not legally declared as claimed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He told Parliament that what was said by the President in Parliament was completely false. He said it was now clear who was behind the move to postpone the LG polls.
"Media and several other people pointed finger at the Treasury Secretary, Government Printer and the Elections Commission for attempting to disrupt the election process. Now, it is clear who really wants to postpone the LG polls. The corpse of LG polls is now lying at Wickremesinghe funeral parlour," he said.
Parliamentarian Alahapperuma said the entire opposition would stand together to fight against the move to postpone the LG polls. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

Ranil has shown his debating skill and his legal and political manipulation and twist and he managed to fool 225 in a broad light political bankruptcy in this country....if this is case ; why did call political parties engage in political meetings across the country including UNP and SLPP..it looks a political drama was hatched behind the scene...utter misuse of presidential powers and Ranil know how to fool his colleagues ; people ..so sad to see this country is going down like this and anyone can use this trick to do anything.. Ranil is like JR crafty in politics and he will pay something else to stay in power till his death ..No more general or presidential elections...Wait for a referendum of some kind to keep him in power
