This doesn’t seem right--12pm in Arugam Bay? That sun is blazing! Anyone walking around topless at that hour clearly isn’t thinking straight--love drama or not. Police could’ve just given her a quick cultural lesson and a bottle of water! The more we blow up stories like this, the more tourists will think Sri Lanka is one big courtroom.

Excellent verdict. Before 1983 violence, Tourism Industry was the highest foreign exchange earner in our country. Workforce in the industry was the happiest workforce. In some countries during summer the women are seen in the beeches half naked. That is the culture there. So when they visit SL sometimes they tend to believe that their culture at home is not offensive in SL. In some SL beeches we see semi naked women and there is no issue. This incident fired up with the photo in the social media. Police should have warned the woman not to behave like that and ended the matter

Reminder: beach is a public place where families should be free to roam, and as this is not a nudist beach, indecency laws should prevail. As for Sigirya murals; the age of women as objects has gone now. We are a more progressive society, are we not?

A woman walking bare chested ! Whats the big deal. Has she harmed you physically. If you dont like turn your face look away! In times gone by many of our"gypsy" folks and village mothers were half bare chested We are pretending to be a puritan society chasing frightening the tourist even our own folks their kids when they eagerly visit their motherland!
