Tense situation at central mail exchange amid postal strike



Colombo, August 22 (Daily Mirror) - A tense situation erupted between employees and officials at the Central Mail Exchange today while transporting a stock of postal bags.

United Postal Trade Unions' Front co-convener Chinthaka Bandara said the postal workers’ strike has entered its fifth consecutive day.

Meanwhile, Postmaster General Ruwan Sathkumara stated that a request has been made to the Defence Ministry to provide vehicles from the Defence Division to assist in distributing the letters and parcels currently piled up due to the strike.
