Police fired tear gas and used water cannons on protesting students of the Medical Faculty Students’ Action Committee in Colombo.

The protesting medical students were fired tear gas and water cannons near the Nelum Pokuna in Colombo by the police.

They were protesting against the government’s alleged move to destroy free education with the support of several private universities and schools.

Selfish low grade medical students. There are private institutions in all over the world.These medical students are like frogs in a well. Grow up. If SL don’t have private institutions ,locals will go abroad losing millions of dollars to SriLanka.

What is wrong with the private universities? Those who have the means should be able to study in these universities. As anybody knows, you will have to spend your life to pass out from our government universities as most of these fellows are protesting on the roads everyday

You happily paid big amounts for A/L tuition to tuition masters. Is that free education? I was told not many AL students now go to schools, and instead go to tuition classes paying big money. If you are asked to pay that to school, will do do it? You came to universities by going to tuition from grade 1.
