Colombo, August 5 (Daily Mirror) - In response to a statement by MP Ravi Karunanayake that Office Assistants of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka are drawing a higher salary than that of some categories of teachers, Deputy Minister of Education Madura Seneviratne told Parliament today that teaching will be among the hightest paid jobs in Sri Lanka before long.
It was revealed that the starting salary of teachers is Rs. 53,000 while Grade One teachers are drawing a total salary of Rs. 157,000. However it was also reavaled that only 15 percent of Sri Lankan teachers are being paid the highest average salary.
