Colombo, May 14 (Daily Mirror) - Absconding primary tutor Hayeshika Fernando also known as ‘Teacher Amma’ surrendered before the Negombo Court this afternoon through her attorney and was granted bail.
Fernando, who was in the centre of controversy for evading arrest after allegedly kicking a young man in his groin leading to his hospitalisation, was wanted by three police teams last week.
President's Counsel Anuja Premaratne, appearing for the suspect informed the Magistrate’s Court that his client willingly surrendered to the court.
Katana Police conducting inquiries into the assault incident of the youth took both Fernando's husband and manager into custody, while the teacher with her daughter was absconding.
The assault incident had reportedly taken place when the youth hired by the tutor to train her staff with computer operating work had allegedly sexually harassed the female staff.
Police said that the two other arrested suspects in connection with the assault incident were produced before courts today and all five suspects had been released on bail.
