Taj Samudra alerted SIS on Easter attacker day before bombing: Minister

Colombo, July 9 (Daily Mirror) - Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala told Parliament today that the Taj Samudra Hotel had alerted the State Intelligence Service (SIS) via email just minutes after Easter Sunday bomber Abdul Latheef Mohamed Jameel had checked in to the hotel on April 20, 2019, a day before the attacks.

Despite the alert and the fact that Jameel was on a security watch list, the SIS reportedly failed to act on the information, the Minister said.

Jameel, one of the suicide bombers involved in the Easter Sunday attacks that claimed over 250 lives, was originally assigned to bomb the Taj Samudra but later moved to another location after his attempt failed. He died in an explosion at the Tropical Inn in Dehiwala.

Then Shani ad Ravi knew that too. 225 mps at that time including upfa, jvp and unp mps knew that as well.You are just passing the ball like a joker nothing else. You canot blame others as it was jvp national list memeber Ibrahim nana was a key figure in this matter. How much money he pumped to jvp and npp should be investigated too.

Many knew of the the threat of such an attack and SL was prewarned by foreign intelligence agencies. They do such warnings even now. Even if they acted on the intelligence, would the attacks be avoided? No one knows.

Sri Lanka is pretty good. Even hotel reception staff is like intel and systems seem to have be so good that when a person on a watch list checks in , hotel reception staff gets the red alert! But the ‘mastermind’ is still running. More than 2 months since 21/04/25.
