Suspect arrested over attack on Policeman near court

A former Urban Councillor has been arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) in connection with an attack on a police officer on duty near the Fort Magistrate’s Court.

Police said the suspect, a 52-year-old resident of Nagoda, will be produced before the Fort Magistrate’s Court.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, when the officer sustained injuries after being struck by a bottle thrown by an agitated protester near the court premises.
