Suspect arrested over Ami Upul shooting

Colombo, July 8 (Daily Mirror) - The main suspect in connection with the recent shooting of Ami Upul, a known associate of underworld figure Ganemulla Sanjeewa, has been arrested by the Ragama Police.

Police said the suspect was taken into custody along with a haul of drugs found in his possession.

Ami Upul, a 45-year-old former army soldier and resident of Batuwatte, was gunned down last Thursday (3) night by two unidentified assailants who arrived in a three-wheeler. The attackers opened fire at a person inside a house on Batuwatte Rural Development Road before fleeing the scene.

The victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the killing.
