NOROCHCHOLAI - (Daily Mirror) - The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has reported a sudden breakdown of the high-pressure heater system in Unit 2 of the Lakvijaya thermal power plant at Norochcholai.
As a result, the generator has been shut down, and preliminary repair work is already underway, according to CEB officials.
In more positive news, the major overhaul of Unit 3's generator has been successfully completed, and test runs are currently being carried out. Normal power generation is expected to resume shortly.
Despite the breakdown, the CEB has assured the public that there will be no disruptions to the electricity supply. Efforts are being made to ensure continuous power through hydro power generation.
