Sub-Inspector arrested for alleged bribery

Colombo, July 24 (Daily Mirror) - A Sub-Inspector attached to the Kompannavidiya Police Station was arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on charges of soliciting a bribe.

According to officials, the arrest took place near the Fort Magistrate’s Court premises.

The officer is alleged to have demanded a bribe of Rs. 100,000.

Excellent work, need to clean entire Sri Lanka from top to bottom on this corruption culture infested by previous corrupted regime. I hope AKD gov will be re-elected so they will have enough time in hand to fully recover SL from drugs and corruption and political influence. Health care and transportation sectors also need to reform completely so people gain trust in these systems. I think so far very good progress. keep up the good work.

Every one is thinking and commenting on clean Sri Lanka and punishment for taking bribes. There are lot of guys in many ranks in the Police Department and as usual, when they are caught in criminal activities; they are warned and reinstated on various grounds.

As I indicated earlier police personnel are not from educated community therefore wanting money from others for their comfortable life is not a surprise. For me the only way to minimize corruption and better behaviour is to have frequent workshops. Failing to do so could very well lead anti-police sentiment, which already exists. Over to you IGP.
