State Sports Ministry relocated as cost-saving initiative

Colombo, Nov.30 (Daily Mirror) - In a strategic cost-cutting initiative, the newly appointed Sports Minister Harin Fernando has directed the relocation of the State Ministry of Sports from the World Trade Center to the Sports Ministry building at Race Course.

It was reported earlier that the government had to spend Rs. 4.2 million to maintain the State Minister's office in the World Trade Center.

Minister Fernando underscored the practicality of leveraging existing infrastructure, stating that the State Minister can effectively carry out duties from the Sports Ministry office.

As he is also the Tourism Minister, he has communicated to the Ministry Secretary that his office will be at the Tourism Ministry so that the State Minister of Sports can occupy the Sports Ministry premises.

Furthermore, Minister Fernando has instructed the Ministry Secretary to credit the approximately Rs. 50 million annually saved through this relocation to the Sports Development Fund.
