Colombo, May 27 (Daily Mirror) - The introduction of Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet services are being delayed due to some technical issues on the agreements reached during the tenure of the previous government, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said today.

The Minister said while responding to a question about the delay of the project that it was earlier expected that the matters could be settled by April.

This system is not suitable for Sri Lanka as it is too expensive. It needs to be dropped completely. As Sri Lanka is small island, we should concentrate on fiber and wifi. It is cheap and also future proof.

There are cost implications to users, not forgetting the drain on foreign exchange. I think theere is a good robust service both mobile and fixed line. What has age got to do with it. You will be an old codger one day, lest you forget.

Not surprised with the delay when bringing in new technologies that is very much required for high data users. It also opens up access to remote villages and schools. Yes, its not affordable to them, but the amount that needs to be spent in order to get the connection there is a tiny fraction compared to underground lines or mobile transmission towers. Private companies can easily install 100s of these around Sri Lanka via their CSR programs. All Starlink needs is 2000 USD 2 weeks where as the rest requires more than 50000 USD 3-12 months minimum

Will you be so kind enough to make even a short visit to the ministry of health and check the situation with drug shortages, dengue, chikungunya appointing a director to the National Hospital Colombo. We know that all those issues are due to the corrupt previous governments, but comrade it is 6 months since you took over. Comrade can we expect a solution at least within the next 54 months?
