SriLankan Airlines reports revenue growth after adopting AI-powered system

Colombo, March 27 (Daily Mirror) - SriLankan Airlines has recorded a notable increase in revenue following the implementation of a next-generation, AI and Machine Learning (ML)-powered Origin and Destination (O&D) revenue management platform, the airline said.

The new system enables dynamic pricing and improved inventory optimisation, while enhancing the passenger experience through real-time seat availability and predictive analytics across all sales channels.

Head of Revenue Management Kshanaka Saparamadu said the move reflects the airline’s commitment to innovation and digital transformation. “With the introduction of PROS Revenue Management Advantage and Amadeus Revenue Availability and Active Valuation, we are refining our processes while positioning ourselves for long-term success in modern airline retailing,” he said.

Group Head of IT Chamara Perera said the transition to an integrated revenue management system supports the airline’s strategy to remain agile in a competitive and fast-evolving industry. He noted that the system improves the airline’s ability to respond to market fluctuations and changing customer demands.

Powered by AI-driven tools from PROS and Amadeus, the platform uses advanced algorithms to better align capacity with demand, optimise premium seat allocation and respond quickly to market shifts, boosting overall yield.

According to industry benchmarks, O&D-based revenue optimisation models typically generate a 3–5% increase in passenger revenue. SriLankan Airlines reported a 13% revenue growth during the first three quarters of the 2025/2026 financial year, with the new system identified as a key contributing factor.

The initiative has also strengthened collaboration between internal teams and earned international recognition. The airline received the Growth Catalyst Award at the Outperformer Customer Awards 2025 in Las Vegas by PROS, and a Silver Award in the AI and Data Science category at the National Project Management Excellence Awards 2025 in Colombo by the Project Management Institute Sri Lanka Chapter.

SriLankan Airlines said the new platform will further enhance its global competitiveness, particularly in attracting high-value connecting passengers, as it continues its modernisation efforts in the global aviation market.
