Colombo, Nov. 17 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka’s tourism industry continues its robust recovery, surpassing the 2 million foreign visitor mark in 2025. The milestone was celebrated with the arrival of French tourists Raphael Caron and his wife Claire Charlet at Katunayake Airport today.

The couple, residents of Paris, flew in from London, England on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-504, arriving at 1:30 PM. They plan to spend two weeks exploring the island, including sightseeing and shopping. Mr. Caron works as a financial manager in France.

Tourism authorities hailed the milestone as a sign of growing confidence in Sri Lanka as a safe and attractive travel destination. Ms. Anusha Damayanthi, Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, welcomed the visitors along with senior officials from the bureau and the Airport and Aviation Services Company Limited.

Officials noted that reaching 2 million arrivals not only reflects the revival of tourism after recent challenges but also signals positive prospects for the country’s economy, as increased tourist spending supports local businesses and creates employment opportunities across the hospitality and services sectors.
