Sri Lanka’s Super 8 opponents at T20 World Cup 2026 revealed

Sri Lanka’s opponents for the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 have been confirmed, with the hosts drawn alongside England, New Zealand and either Pakistan or the USA in Group 2.

The Super 8 stage features the top eight teams of the tournament, divided into two groups. Prior to the tournament, the seeded teams were placed based on their ICC T20I rankings, with Australia, India, South Africa and the West Indies in Group 1, and England, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Group 2.

Sri Lanka have already secured qualification to the Super 8 stage and will now face strong competition from England and New Zealand, while their third opponent will be determined depending on the final group standings between Pakistan and the USA.

Meanwhile, Group 1 will consist of India, South Africa, the West Indies and either Zimbabwe or Australia. Australia’s qualification remains uncertain, as they have managed just one win from three matches and face the possibility of an early group-stage exit.

Zimbabwe, on the other hand, have emerged as a strong contender after registering a surprise victory over Australia. With four points from two matches, a win over Ireland would see Zimbabwe advance to the Super 8 stage, potentially replacing Australia in Group 1.
