Sri Lankan rupee falls slightly against USD

On the heels of the Sri Lankan Rupee dropping below Rs 290 yesterday, it slightly depreciated today, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

Accordingly, today's buying rate of USD is Rs. 290.67 while the selling rate is Rs. 303.95.

The buying rate stood at 289.89 yesterday while the selling rate has remained unchanged.

CB needs to stop manipulating the dollar rate by doing credit swaps and taking on western loans with no repayment capacity in the horizon. This only artificially increases the dollars in reserves with no real expansion in the economy or exports to legitimately increase the rupee against the dollar.
